Fieldwork guide — how our fintech audits run

How fieldwork unfolds inside a fintech audit

A practical map of document rooms, interview etiquette, sampling days, and the closing workshop — written for teams commissioning a Controls Readiness Audit or sibling engagement.

Team planning session with sticky notes on a glass wall
  1. Calendar lock & access

We confirm the decision date (filing, diligence, or attestation), name your engagement lead, and issue a document request list. Read-only access beats screenshots forwarded by chat.

  2. Document room hygiene

Folders mirror product rails: safeguarding, reconciliations, exceptions, complaints, and org charts. Incomplete aging lists are flagged early so week-two testing is not wasted.

  3. Walkthrough days

Interviews stay short and concrete. Control owners narrate a live transaction; we ask who approves, who can bypass, and what happens after an outage. Mandarin sessions are available when scheduled in advance.

  4. Sample testing

Selections target risky edges — leave coverage, corridor incidents, and transfers between safeguarding and operating accounts — rather than random volume for its own sake.

  5. Factual accuracy & close

Draft findings return to management for correction of fact, not negotiation of ratings. The closing workshop sequences remediations against your external deadline.

What “ready for kickoff” means

You are ready when yesterday’s reconciliation pack can be reproduced from source extracts, interviewees have calendar holds, and someone owns unanswered document requests daily.

You are not ready when the only control evidence is a slide deck from last year’s investor update. We can still help — the estimate simply includes more reconstruction time.

On-site versus remote

Taiwan on-site days suit cash-adjacent walkthroughs and board closed sessions. Distributed engineering or product teams often join remotely without weakening the audit, provided ledger access remains intact.
