Preparing interviewees for control walkthroughs

Control owners often over-prepare. They memorize policy clauses and under-prepare the simple act of opening the system they use each day.

What we ask for in the room

We want to see the screen or binder the person actually uses, hear who hands work to whom, and learn what happens when something breaks at 6 p.m. on a Friday.

Coaching that helps

  • Practice narrating one live transaction from intake to settlement
  • Agree which exceptions are normal versus which require escalation
  • Give permission to say “I need to check with the overnight team” instead of inventing certainty

What hurts credibility

Reading slides aloud, claiming dual control that a single login can bypass, or promising that a control “always” runs when the exception log shows otherwise.

A short briefing the day before fieldwork is enough. Longer script rehearsals tend to make answers brittle. If you are booking an Investor Diligence Walkthrough with us, we include two rehearsal sessions so spokespeople can practice under mild pressure without theatrical polish.
